This is a blog that Gardener Den created to teach and answer questions about gardening. He is going to ask other authors to give their opinions on gardening subjects and other expertise that they can write about gardening and their views on the political policies of todays world. These policies are effecting the Horticulture Industry in this country.

What to do in greenhouse since Christmas is over.
Hi Everyone!
Here is what you do since Christmas is over. What I am going to do is clean up my greenhouse from last years left overs and start to pot my perennial plugs into 1 gallon pots. And start getting the one greenhouse ready to start seeds in for the up and coming spring 2019 season. So come back often to see what is going on in my greenhouse operation.

Here are some ideas that you can use to grow winter greens.
Hi Everyone!
Here are some ideas on growing salad greens in the winter time. I will be posting more about each one of these in the coming weeks. One of the seed companies that I like dealing with High Mowing Organic Seeds of Vermont. Here is their website address: www.highmowingseeds.com. You can go on line and access their catalog or ask them to send you one. Their toll free number is 866-735-4454.
Also if you buy over $10.00 in seeds you get free shipping on your seed order.
Here is my list of what I would like to grow in a unheated greenhouse or cold frame outdoors.
These are my suggestions:
Winter Hardy Greens:
Beets: Early Wonder Tall Top
Bull's Blood Beets Heirloom
Green Salad Mixes:
Yankee Hardy Lettuce Blend
Specialty Greens:
Vit
Claytonia
Kale:
Red Russian
White Russian
Siberian
Spinach:
Smooth leaf
Verdil
Savoyed leaf
Bloomsdale Longstanding
Winter Bloomsdale
Abundant Bloomsdale
Giant Winter
Carrots:
Napoli F1
These are just a few of the items that I would start to grow in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
I will be doing articles on each plant that I discuss here that you can use to grow for yourself or if you are a commercial greenhouse or vegetable grower and you want to extend your growing season.
Maybe you would want to try growing some of these salad greens.
I hope this gives homeowners and commercial growers ideas in what to grow in the future?
As a commercial grower I need to make my business more of a year around business instead of a
seasonal business. Also to you home owners you can try this for yourself and grow your own salad greens and also they would be organic. Growing your own salad greens as a home owner you would be proud of what you grew and you wouldn't have any recall or be afraid of what you were eating.

Colder weather means bringing in the plants that would freeze and getting everything in is going to take some time. Hope every one is bringing in their plants? Around here one day its very warm almost 90 degrees and next day in the low 50's and tonight low is 40 degrees. And all it does is rain.

Hi Gardening Friends!
I been away from my blog on gardening for a while. I need to get back to writing this on a daily basics.
Well I want to talk about what I am doing working at starting my greenhouse horticulture business back
up and running as a all organic type of business. From growing vegetable plants organic to growing
annuals, perennials and small shrubs all using organic or base methods. Why are we using toxic chemicals
when we can use organic methods to control all kinds of plant diseases? Hope you all come back to read
my gardening articles from the past and into the future! Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
